VISIT THE READ-A-THON WEBSITE
In conjunction with the Author Illustrator Fair, we celebrated literacy the whole month of November with our 3rd annual Read-A-Thon. At Orion Alternative Mandarin Immersion, we want to encourage our students to develop a love for reading. This is a school-wide event that provides family and friends near and far with an opportunity to give directly to our school while promoting literacy and education. Our goal is that through the encouragement and support that each of our students receives from family, friends, teachers, and classmates, they will develop and foster a love of reading for many years to come. Bonus — the money helps fund their STEAM education and other school activities/events as well! This is a direct investment in each of our student’s daily educational experience.
We set out with a goal of $30,000, an increase by more than $5,000 since the Fair in 2021, and ended up less than $500 short! In coming years, support your students by reading them a favorite story, encouraging them to read and log their reading minutes, and by helping them ask family and/or friends for donations of support.
Students compete for special prizes as they read and raise alongside their friends. Every student can participate and help make a difference for our school. Let’s take advantage of the colder weather to cuddle up with a good book and let the reading adventure begin!
