Orion Needs Your Financial Support!/ Recuadación Directa de Fondos

Dear Orion Parents,

Welcome to 2018-2019: Starship is kicking off another great year with our most important fundraiser, the Annual Direct Drive.

-Our goal is $50,000 (including company matching funds) with 100% participation.

-We are asking for a tax-deductible donation of $500 per child.

It is our participation as a community that gives our school all the amazing extras that our children enjoy and benefit from every day. This includes Physical Education, Field Trips, Art in Action, Theater, our Instructional Aid, and many others.

We understand it is not possible for some families to make a $500 donation, but we are asking families to give whatever you can. Monthly payments are an option as well. And NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL!

This is the most important fundraiser we have because 100% of the entire donation goes directly to the programs for our kids.

  • DONATE ONLINE: Orion Paypal Giving Fund
  • OR WRITE A CHECK: envelopes are available on the table outside of the office. Please fill out the envelope and return it with your check made out to Starship Orion to the black Starship mailbox (in the hallway outside of the office).

Remember, a few parents cannot do this alone. Let’s take pride in helping our school hit our goal. We are so appreciative of all donations.

Sincerely,

Katie Comfort & Tanaya Mills, Starship Co-Presidents
Shana Hackworth & Carol Anne Bauman, Fundraising Co-Chairs

Sinceramente,

Katie Comfort & Tanaya Mills, PTO Co-Presidents
Shana Hackworth & Carol Anne Bauman,  Fundraising Co-Chairs

Welcome Back!

A letter from Principal Julie:

Welcome to the 2018 -2019 school year!

As always, there were a few changes over the summer.

We are saying goodbye (at least for a while!) to the following staff:
Kristina Granillo- Teacher Kristina is taking some time off to be at home with her adorable baby boy! We are thrilled for Kristina and her family of five. Fortunately, we will still see Kristina at Orion because she is now a parent of an Orion Kinder!

Esme Martinez-Singh – Teacher Esme will be a new mom any day now! She will be taking some time off to stay home with her new bundle of joy! We wish Teacher Esme much joy in her new role and her new adventure!

Kimberly Barnes – Teacher Kimberly made the difficult decision to accept a new position close to home. We are happy Kimberly will enjoy a much shorter commute, but we will miss her at Orion!.

Please join me in welcoming the following new staff:
Julie Souza – Teacher Julie will be our new 3rd grade teacher! Julie has been teaching in the Redwood City School District for four years. She brings an amazing amount of creativity, energy and heart to everything she does. Please join me in welcoming Teacher Julie!!

Jules Schenone– Teacher Jules will teach our 1st Grade class while Teacher Esme is out on maternity leave. Jules completed her Masters in Teaching this summer. She is excited to be joining Orion, and we are equally excited to have Jules’ warm and nurturing spirit join our wonderful community!

Pat Kelly– Teacher Pat was hired to cover for Teacher Kristina while she is out on maternity leave. For the past several years, he has been busy coaching and substitute teaching in our district. We are thrilled to have his positive and warm energy at Orion this year!

A communications change:
Digital Newsletter – We are excited to announce that the bi-weekly Orion School Newsletter will have a new look, a new name and will now be digital! You will receive a copy of the Orion Gazette every other Friday via email and text message. Paper copies of the newsletter will be available in the Main Hallway.

Thank you for sharing your kiddos with us! Our talented and passionate staff have been planning throughout the summer to provide an engaging and enriching year for our students. We can’t wait to work hand in hand with our amazingly dedicated families to enable all of our Orion stars to learn and grow in our warm, vibrant and nurturing learning community. I look forward to another dynamic year of building relationships and learning and growing together!!

-Principal Julie

P.S. – Please mark your calendars for our Back-to-School Night on Thursday, August 30th from 5:45PM – 8:00PM.

Look for more Back-to-School Night details in the first edition of the Orion Gazette which will be sent out on Friday, August 17th!!
