Orion Community Events Survey

We are sure you have noticed all of the amazing events our little Orion community puts on each year. As our community changes, so do the events. However, we’ve noticed a drop in attendance and in volunteers participating in many of these activities. Is it time for changes? In order to find out, we’d like for you to take a survey. You’ll find the survey in our closed Starship Orion Facebook group. You can also ask to be added to the group if you aren’t yet a member.

Lockdown Drill – 3/29

As part of our safety plan, we will practice our lockdown procedure with students on Thursday, March 29th. A school lockdown is implemented as protective action when an imminent threat is identified on or near our campus. During our 5-minute drill, teachers will lock all doors, close all blinds, and instruct students to listen to their directions to hide under or desk or other safe space and to remain quiet. When the all clear is given, students and teachers will resume regular classroom activities. If you have any questions, please let Principal Julie know!

Thank You for the Orion Love
Wow, the Orion staff feels incredibly appreciated and loved because of all of YOU! We can’t thank you enough for all of the Teacher Appreciation Week surprised–flowers, cards, decorated doors, and treats! Our doors are the talk of the Redwood City School District! After showering us with all of that love, you then made sure we had plenty of yummy snacks and treats to fuel us through conferences. You are all AMAZING and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Huge Auction Thanks
I was incredibly sad to have had a stomach bug that kept me away from the wonderful evening of perfect prom filled fun! I have heard rave reviews of and seen beautiful pictures of festive decorations, dancing, and bidding! A huge heartfelt thank you to Katie COmfort, Jessica Bryski, Florence Larsen, Ericka Vetter, and their entire crew of volunteers for tirelessly working hundreds of hours to create such a special and successful night! And another big thank you to all of you who were able to attend our Orion Prom to support our amazing school and your sweet kiddos! Orion’s magic is truly fostered by all of you working with and always supporting our tremendously talented and dedicated teachers.

Orion’s Prom was a Hit!

Thank you to the auction team for putting on the party of the year! This is our PTO’s primary fundraiser.  Money raised at the event will help to fund our P.E., art, music, field trips, library programs and to cover basic school supplies for all Orion students and teachers.  It also enables funding for unbudgeted classroom items. Thank you again to the fabulous Auction committee.
