Starship Meeting Resources

Did you know… every current parent/guardian, teacher, and employee of Orion is automatically a voting member of Starship? Following are agendas for our monthly meetings. Please join us at a meeting to take part in community decisions.

Starship Meeting Schedule 2018-19

After School Sports Registration for 3rd-5th Graders – Registro de deportes después de la escuela para estudiantes de 3er a 5to grado

Orion has teamed up with Legarza Sports to offer a low-cost ($20), after-school, all-sports program, funded in part by a generous donation from Prima. The fast-paced hour-and-a-half sessions are run by Legarza’s energetic and knowledgeable staff . Your child will learn and have fun while playing basketball, soccer, hockey, and recess games such as 4-Square, tag games, relay races, capture the flag, and MORE! The focus is on fun-filled activities that help to build confidence, teach cooperation and teamwork, and improve athletic ability.

In order to try to give every child a chance to attend, we’ve split it up by grade-level into three 10-week sessions for the school year.

Program info:
-For third, fourth, and fifth graders
-10-week session, Tuesdays, 12/11-3/12 (no 2/19) from 2:30-4:00 PM.
-Two instructors for 20-40 children

If you would like your child to attend, please read and sign the attached permission slip. Include a check for $20 made out to Starship Orion and deposit it with the permission slip in the Starship mailbox in the front hall at school. Permission Slip

Additional info: Third session will be for kinder and 1st graders.

ALL ORION FAMILIES ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

From Principal Julie:
After a long a thoughtful process, the Redwood School Board held a meeting to vote on the Superintendent’s proposal regarding Planning for Our Future and right-sizing our district. The Board voted unanimously to approve the proposal. Specifically for Orion this means:

PHASE 1 –

Effective the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, Orion will move to the John Gill Campus. Orion will remain a Parent Participation Program. We will be a School of Choice Program operating on the John Gill Campus. We will share the site with the Mandarin Immersion Program. All current John Gill Non-Mandarin Immersion families, will be offered spots in the Orion Parent Participation Program if they decide to stay at John Gill.

PHASE 2 – Next Year

The District will officially change the Boundary for the John Gill School. The site will no longer be offering services as a neighborhood school site.
